Planning enforcements (FOI-3592)
Message from Hackney Council
Dear ***** *****
Re: Freedom of Information Request.
You requested the following:
1. I was wondering if you happen to have any stats on the percentage of Enforcement notices issued in your council, that go on to demolition/ the home owners being prosecuted?
2. So for example breaches in planning regulations, where home owners go on to build extensions without seeking the permission from their local council.
3. I’ve got a stat that says that Hackney issued 25 enforcement notices in 2018. Is this correct?
The Council’s Response
1. I was wondering if you happen to have any stats on the percentage of Enforcement notices issued in your council, that go on to demolition/ the home owners being prosecuted?
We confirm In 2018, LB Hackney issued 93 enforcement notices, and In 2018, LB Hackney sent 51 cases to the Prosecutor, with a view to taking legal action.
2. So for example breaches in planning regulations, where home owners go on to build extensions without seeking the permission from their local council.
In relation to home owners who go on to build extensions without seeking the permission from their local council - we don"t actually have that data ourselves, however you can view the enforcement register.
3. I’ve got a stat that says that Hackney issued 25 enforcement notices in 2018. Is this correct?
Please refer to our response to Q1 for the number of enforcement notices in 2018.
