Message from Hackney Council
Dear
Thank you for your request of 16th August.
You asked:
1) How many women accepted as homeless due to fleeing domestic violence was placed by the Council in Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the last quarter, broken down by a) ethnicity; b) whether it is a household with children or not?
2) How many women fleeing violence has been found ineligible to receive homelessness support given their immigration status or lack of enough evidence to prove eligibility (in the last quarter)?
1) We can confirm that in the last quarter covering April 2018 to June 2018, out of 35 homeless applications from individuals fleeing Domestic Violence we placed 6 applicants in B&B interim accommodation.
Of the 6 women placed in B&B accommodation due to fleeing Domestic Violence, the ethnic breakdown was as follows
- 2 applicants were White
- 3 applicants were Black
- 1 applicant did not declare an ethnicity.
Of the 6 women placed in B&B accommodation due to fleeing Domestic Violence, only one of these households had children.
2) In the quarter from April 2018 to June 2018 only one applicant fleeing Domestic Violence was found to be ineligible for the reasons above.
