Dear Hackney Council FOI Team,
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request
the following information from Hackney Council, Home Ownership
Team/Property Team
1. What communal gardens/spaces has been given to tenants for sole use
after their tenancy as commenced as their private garden or space since
1988 until present?
2. What communal gardens/spaces has been given to Leaseholders for
sole use after they purchased their property as their private garden or
space since 1988 until present?
3. Concerning leaseholders, were leases amended to reflected the new
acquisition of land?
4. What were the circumstances that these spaces were given over for
private use?
5. Have these spaces been given free of charge? If no at what cost
were each sold for?
If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined, I would be
appreciative for any further advice and assistance. If you have, any

You requested the following:

The Council’s Response
We are unable to provide this information, as the Council do not keep collated records relating to residents" gardens/spaces, this is done on an individual basis as required.
Additionally, Hackney Council does not hold any of records regarding handovers of the communal land for the sole use.
