Re: Freedom of Information Request.
Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, received 22 January 2019. Your request has been considered and our response is in bold below.
You requested the following:
1. Please can you tell me how many victims of domestic abuse have approached the council for help finding new housing in each year over the past five years.
2. Please can you tell me what the outcome was for each applicant over the past five years. If you are not able to list the outcome for every applicant, please can you give an overall picture for each year i.e. 20 people were given temporary accommodation etc
3. How many of these applicants in each year over the past five years were found not to be in priority need and what reason was given?
4. How many of the applicants who were found not to be in priority need successfully appealed the council"s decision?
The Council’s Response
Please see the details held below, regarding Domestic Violence (DV) approaches for the last 5 years.
Please note this only relates to main duty decisions, the Council doesn"t hold the data regarding applications where a main homelessness duty wasn"t accepted.
Furthermore, the Council doesn"t record data regarding the number of DV applicants that were placed in Temporary Accommodation (TA).
The information in the table below is taken from data recorded, detailing accepted homelessness applicants where the reason for the loss of last settled accommodation due to domestic abuse/violent breakdown of a relationship involving a partner.
For the financial year 2018/19 April to September, the Council holds the information below. Please note that the data for Quarter 3, October to December is still being collated.
