Dear ***** *****,
Thank you for your request of 20th March. Please find below your questions and the Council"s response.
1) The annual budget for street cleaning each financial year since 2009-2010
You can find all budgetary information via https://hackney.gov.uk/finances
Please find herewith specific budget book for 2009-2010.
2) The number of full time equivalent staff delivering street cleaning services in each financial year since 2009-2010
The following is the number of full time staff we employ at Environmental Services:
Hygiene Services – 9
Millfields Overhead – 55
Transfer Station – 7
Commercial Waste – 32
Vehicle Maintenance – 1
Street Cleansing / Estates – 314
Refuse – 71
Co-Mingled – 43
3) The average number of miles of road cleaned per week, in each financial year since 2009-10
The number of KM in the borough is 260km of which 50km relate to high streets and town centres which are swept 7 days a week and 5 times a day. Residential roads are swept twice a week. The figures therefore are as follows:
Residential Roads - 210 km x 2 = 420km per week. This is a centre line measurement and therefore the figure needs to be double if he want to calculate the total length of pavement swept.
High Streets - 50km x 5x7= 1750km of high streets swept. The figure needs to be doubled as this is a centre line measurement.
So the total amount of km cleaned each week is 2,170km x 2 = 4,340km.
In miles that is 2,696 miles.
The figure has remained the same since 2010 as no new roads have been adopted.
4) The number of complaints received by the local authority in relation to cleanliness of streets in each financial year since 2009-2010
2 complaints were recorded during 2009-2010.
