Message from the customer
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would be grateful if the council could please identify which blocks in their borough are under their ownership and, within each, how many units exist. We also would like information on how many of those are still under ownership of the local authority and how many have been sold as leasehold under Right to Buy.

Dear ***** ***** Office,
Thank you for your request of 21st May.
You requested the following:
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would be grateful if the council could please identify which blocks in their borough are under their ownership and, within each, how many units exist. We also would like information on how many of those are still under ownership of the local authority and how many have been sold as leasehold under Right to Buy.
The Council’s Response
In order to simplify the request, this response is based on those blocks of 4 or more. This is because those properties which have under 4 units may be converted houses. Some "blocks" listed on the system are multiple buildings brought together for the purposes of arranging major works, and it is not possible to separate these.
There are 1,264 blocks of this size. A list of these is attached. There 26,592 properties within these, 18,973 of which are council managed properties and 7,619 leasehold (right to buy). This is 71.4% council managed properties and 28.6% leasehold. This excludes those houses and other properties that are not within these blocks. Overall, we have 21,788 rental stock, 61 shared owners, 7,951 leaseholders, and 1,034 freeholders, a total of 30,834. This is 70.6% council owned and managed, and 29.4% right to buy/other owner types.
